Ugly promo picture. And I have to say, the collection itself isn't so impressive either. I didn't expect it to be as ... cartoonish as it is. But I guess MAC was trying to capture the true essence of the comic book. Cute...? But it's very childish... and not in that lovely nostalgic way. For me, the packaging mostly translates as 'cheap.' And at $$$ a pop... I'm guessing that not many little girls (who I'm guessing would be most likely attracted to this sort of clunky cuteness) are going to be purchasing these items.
I took a look at the collection, and the only thing that really stood out to me was a lipstick... surprisingly from the Betty side. I fell in love with the Lustre called 'Oh, Oh, Oh.'

I got this one as well as two lipglasses. I think it's not necessarily the little girls that will get the collection, but more those who gre up with Archies and friends, like myself :)
ReplyDeleteI grew up with Archie too... and maybe the reality is that I've outgrown it. The collection had a 'lunchbox' feel to me... and not in that awesome Vintage way.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking it's the white packaging. Maybe that's what's bugging me. It just doesn't gel for some reason. I went back to look at a few of the other childhood throwback collections that I fell in love with (Venomous Villains)... and the packaging was just so much more awesome to me.
ReplyDeleteTotally unimpressed with this collection. I wouldn't be caught dead pulling an Archie's Girls lipstick container out of my purse. I'll stick with my Dior.
ReplyDeleteLOL Marla! I don't mind the look of a lipstick tube, if I actually like the lipstick... I don't care who made it. But that does not forgive the overall cheap packaging finish of this collection. I really think it's gotta be the white plastic for me. Like I said, I loved Venomous Villains. It was... sleeker. This comes off as more clunky and less 'cute.'
ReplyDeleteI wasn't impressed with most of the collection either. I'm also a Veronica gal at heart, but thought that only "Oh Oh Oh" was worth bringing home. The packaging doesn't bother me at all. Except for the stupid lil bags and tins - now that looked very cheap to me. The colour looks totally gorgeous on you.
ReplyDeleteThanks ahhhsoNeo! I do love the color.
ReplyDeleteBloglovin wasn't showing your new posts in my feed! Boooo on you, Bloglovin!
ReplyDeleteThat promo pic is kind of scary. Why does "Archie" have so many piercings? I don't remember that from the comics... I agree with you about the packaging too. I also don't like how they used the older style B&V instead of a more modern version. I always found the retro style kind of ugly, but maybe that's just me.
Anyway, the colour looks great on you!
Thank you eight!
